  1. The "Find Pattern" dialog allows the user to search for
  2.  
  3. any given data pattern in the collected Ethernet data.
  4.  
  5. The data pattern for which to be searched must be typed
  6.  
  7. in either as ASCII characters or as Hex numbers (a
  8.  
  9. dollar sign "$" followed by two hex digits).  To specify
  10.  
  11. an ASCII-$, a Carriage Return, or a Tab in the data, type
  12.  
  13. $24, $0D, or $09, respectively.

  17. To repeatedly search for a pattern, use the "Find Pattern"
  18.  
  19. menu item to define a pattern, then use the "Find Again"
  20.  
  21. menu item.

  25. When a packet is found that contains the search pattern,

  27. the packet is printed in the Ethernet data window.  The
  28.  
  29. pattern is NOT highlighted in the decoded packet.

  33. The user may start a pattern search from the beginning of

  35. the Ethernet data by defining a new search pattern. The

  37. user may start the search from any given packet by using

  39. the "GotoΓǪ" button or the "Examine" button in the Ethernet

  41. Headers window, or by double clicking one of the packet
  42.  
  43. headers in the Ethernet Headers window.
